Lo scultore MARCO MAYER Il cavallo ha sempre ispirato gli artisti di tutti i tempi per le sue forme eleganti, per la sua forza e la sua agilità. I cavalli scolpiti sul fregio, sulle metope e sui frontoni del Partenone di Atene, i monumenti equestri di Marco Aurelio in Campidoglio, di Erasmo Gattamelata del Donatello a Padova, di Bartolomeo Colleoni del Verrocchio a Venezia, i cavalli di Giorgio De Chirico rappresentano alcuni celebri esempi del significativo interesse degli artisti per questo nobile animale. Amante della natura e degli animali, Marco Mayer è scultore che si dedica con passione e con eccellenti risultati a una ricerca sulla rappresentazione artistica del cavallo. Fin da piccolo Marco monta a cavallo, frequenta i maneggi e dedica il suo interesse al mondo dell’ippica. Parallelamente egli compie studi artistici, frequenta il Liceo Artistico Statale di Bergamo, dove si diploma, e compie studi alla facoltà di Architettura del Politecnico milanese. La sua vasta esperienza lo favorisce nella ricerca dell’essenza plastica del cavallo, nell’analisi approfondita delle sue movenze eleganti e armoniche. Accumula esperienza sui purosangue arabi e inglesi e anche su cavalli di differenti razze. Tra i cavalli da corsa celebri, esegue il ritratto di Ribot e di Varenne. L’elegante struttura equina, dall’andatura gagliarda e ritmica e dal portamento elegante, è oggetto di studio anche nelle varie tecniche impiegate da Mayer, dal disegno all’acquerello, dal dipinto a olio all’acquaforte, allo sbalzo su rame. I suoi cavalli, modellati in cotto o in cera e poi fusi in bronzo, sono pieni di vita, agili e impetuosi, con teste molto espressive. Mayer esordisce con una grande esposizione personale al Circolo Artistico nel 1995. Dal 1997 è invitato a esporre le sue opere alla Fiera Regionale di Orzinuovi, alla Travagliato Cavalli Expo, alla Fiera di Montichiari, al Salone del Cavallo di Reggio Emilia, a Mondo Cavallo Artec di Modena. Marco Mayer, che è uno specialista della scultura ippica, ha tuttavia modellato con successo anche diversi ritratti di personaggi in gesso, in bronzo e in terracotta come ad esempio il Parroco di Campagnola Don Egidio Ballanti. Nel 2002 una sua esposizione personale è stata ospitata alla sede del 3° Reggimento di Sostegno “Aquila” di Orio al Serio. Ogni anno prende parte a diverse esposizioni collettive. VISIONS – ARCHITECTURES OF IDENTITIES aims to explore all different facets of social, physical and cultural identities of our contemporary societies. Everyday we deal with a multitude of different identities and roles: we face the public life creating and adapting our social identities; our body and aesthetic tastes modify and are modified by our physical and sexual identities; our whole being evolves as well as contemporary cultures and modern cities do in order to create new compound and exchange possibilities for new “liquid identities” in “liquid cities“.
